The PIAZZOLLA100 project was launched in 2018 in anticipation of the centennial celebration of Astor Piazzolla, the Argentine-born and New York raised composer who mentored our artistic director Leonardo Suarez-Paz. Under the fiscal sponsorship of NYFA (New York Foundation for the Arts) we created and carried out cultural and education programs from 2020-2024, establishing it as a driving force of the genre’s preservation and evolution.
Inspired by the overwhelming response from the international community of artists and audiences we reached in Buenos Aires and in New York, we continue the PIAZZOLLA100 with an annual festival & touring program.
The PIAZZOLLA100: THE NEW YORK TANGO FESTIVAL is a unique, multidisciplinary celebration of the tango culture, which takes place every year in June in New York City.
We created the festival to be a cultural hub for tango music, dance, literature, poetry, visual art and cinema and a home for the entire global tango community to learn, showcase and further the tango genre.
Approved by the Academia National Del Tango in Buenos Aires.
Join us in June 2025 for the 1st Edition of PIAZZOLLA100: THE NEW YORK TANGO FESTIVAL.
Leonardo Suarez Paz's PIAZZOLLA100: El Nuevo Tango brings the New York Tango Festival to audiences internationally, offering performances, education and community outreach. This program connects across time and cultures, uniting people globally while telling the story of Nuevo Tango, its 100 year journey and its protagonists through the personal story of Leonardo Suarez Paz.
From the sold out 2600-seat National Hall of Centro Cultural Kirchner in Buenos Aires, to NYU Skirball Center and Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York City, Nuevo Tango Arts and PIAZZOLLA100 has reached the hearts of thousands.
